A small look at EvE Timecodes.
I’ll start this off with – EvE as some of you may or may know allows “legal” ISK Buying. The method is, that’s supported by CCP, is by buying EvE Timecodes and selling them on the forums. Another way is PLEX, 30 day codes, which are sold in-game, they can be purchased by converting a timecode into two plex (60 days total, from a 60 day code, 30 days each plex) or from the official EvE Store, they are purchased in-game via the market, for example, in Jita (AFAIK).
But anyway, I’m looking at 60 day codes. For this example, I looked at 3 retailers, not to be named, – I assume the rest of the official ETC retailers CCP links to have all the same price – sell one 60 day code for a total of $34.99. That gives you 60 days. But wait a minute, by paying via credit card, paybycash, or paypal, you can buy 1 months for $14.99 (ok $15) and 3 months for $38.85. The only reasonable explanation to buy an EvE timecode would be to convert it into PLEX (assuming buying two PLEX off CCP is $34.99) to sell, or to sell it on the forums.
Some of you may already know this, but I noticed this now, and I only ever used it to sell time on the market for ISK when I am running dry on ISK and don’t have time to farm/rat it up.
My suggestion – pay via alternatives. In some games timecodes are cheaper. But not EvE.
